Ginger Cookies

about 3 dozen 3″ cookies

Just like Grandma used to make – even better if you used freshly grated ginger. These cookies are quite sweet, however, and the amount of honey can be adjusted to suit individual tastes.


  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup honey

Combine wet ingredients in medium bowl and mix well.


  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 Tbl dry ginger or 3 Tbl freshly grated ginger
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup dry milk
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour

In a separate large bowl, combine all dry ingredients and mix well. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry, and combine thoroughly — but do not over-mix. The resulting batter will be quite thick.

Drop by the spoonful onto greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes.
